The shop

From farm-gate sales to a modern farm shop

The farm shop began with washing, preparing and selling asparagus at the stable door in 1963. The shop has been extended over the years — most recently in spring 2022 — and is easy to reach, close to route 313 between Assens and Middelfart.

The first vegetables from our own fields on the shelves are white and green asparagus, new potatoes and fine lettuces. Through the season come fresh peas, strawberries, rhubarb, spring onions, green and red pointed cabbage, hokkaido, celery, all the wonderful cabbages and sweetcorn — straight from field to table. We add fresh vegetables from other local fruit and vegetable growers, and our organic range is large and still growing.

The asparagus season normally ends at Midsummer — but we extend it. We fill the freezer with bags of hand-peeled asparagus, so you can quickly make a pot of asparagus soup on a cold day.

We also sell organic pork from Agernæs Øko, established in close partnership with Ole Lawaetz Olesen. Agernæs lies in beautiful scenery right by the coast, on a peninsula between the mainland and Helnæs. From here we also get the fine beef from Agernæs Naturkvæg — from the herd of meadow-grazing Scottish Highland cattle. The animals are shot in the field and hung for 3 weeks at the butcher before the meat is cut and packed for the shop.

Alongside our own produce we work with more than 50 producers and suppliers: freshly baked bread from Surdejsbrødet, flour from Vild Hvede, chocolate from Summerbird, mustard from Food for Friends, delicacies from Annas Gourmet and Selleberg, Grøndals tinned fish, juice and syrup from Nybro Frugtplantage and many other delicacies. Exploring is very much allowed.

The farm shop is mainly run by shop manager Inge Gade. We post news and announcements on our Facebook page and on Instagram.

Partners

Our producers and suppliers

The farm shop naturally stocks all our own vegetables — depending on the season — complemented by fresh greens, berries, fruit and herbs from other local growers, organic ones too. You can also buy coffee, ice cream and rum balls to enjoy in the courtyard or in the shop, depending on the weather. We are always looking for new products from quality-minded producers and entrepreneurs, so the range varies through the season. Feel free to call the shop on +45 6154 3592 to ask about specific products.
